Cécile Wajsbrot was born in Paris in 1954. She writes novels – sometimes essays and radio plays. She translates from English (e.g. Virginia Woolf) and German (e.g. Marcel Beyer, Peter Kurzeck) into French. Wajsbrot lives alternately in Paris and Berlin. She has been a member of the German Academy for Language and Poetry since 2017 and is a member of the Akademie der Künste in Berlin since 2019.
